Trusted Servants (BDA Workshops)
The BDA Solvency Immersion Conference is not a Step study or a DA and BDA meeting —
it's a unique recovery event designed so that any debtor can TAKE THE STEPS, with a focus on work and business, within six months.
The group conscience for the conference, and for the other DA and BDA recovery services and resources we offer (see hopefordebtors.org and bdaworkshops.org), is held by our steering committee. Our leadership also includes Step guides, and the services provided by our conference participants during our workshops — host and share shepherd, speakers, serenity setters, and timekeepers — are vital to our success at practicing our threefold purpose.
Qualifications for Service
In general, we ask that all service volunteers be solvent, both at the time they volunteer and when they serve. This is to put first things first: solvency first, Steps second, everything else third or later ... We also ask all volunteers to read this page, as well as our orientation document, both in full, and agree to the details provided before volunteering to be of service in our workshops.

Please note that one member of our steering committee — not our host — serves as our registrar, treasurer, literature when available for order online, service coordinator, and tech coordinator for most if not all workshops and is our default moderator for related conference activities.
We receive commitments from other service volunteers every other month, in one-month service commitments, usually during the workshops, always in full transparency. We recommend service for solvent newcomers once they've attended the first two months of workshops for a first-time conference cycle.

If any volunteer needs to take a week off or changes their mind about their commitment, we ask them to contact our service coordinator, and then the coordinator will arrange for substitution or refill their service spots.

We find depth of recovery in the structure and consistency of our workshops. No chaos or drama, please, either in the workshops or between them, perhaps especially by text and email. No drama or disruptions by chat either, please.
Our Steering Committee
Our steering committee serves BDA Workshops (bdaworkshops.org), the hosts of the BDA Solvency Immersion Conference (bdasolvency.org) and provider of other services. The primary direct service recipients of BDA Workshops are still-suffering debtors; the primary direct service recipients of BDA Solvency are conference participants who complete their Step work in the conference and stay to recover, perhaps especially Step guides. These members have been solvent for at least two years (often longer), have taken the Steps using the conference materials at least once, have guided at least two other compulsive debtors through the Steps using the conference materials, have participated in our two most recent 11th Tradition outreach projects, have submitted surveys for the two most recent conference cycles, attended the two most recent wrap-up sessions, and are registered for and actively participating in the current conference cycle.

We define active participation as attendance in at least 12 of 26 workshops per cycle AND at least one workshop per month; we believe these two measurements are complementary.
Our steering committee is our primary leadership.
